Crispy Mango Habanero Wings Ingredients
As mentioned earlier, this recipe does not require a lot of ingredients and you can easily source the ingredients for this recipe. In fact, you probably have most of the ingredients already!
- Chicken Wings: These can be fresh or frozen. If you are using frozen chicken wings, make sure they are fully defrosted before seasoning.
- Baking powder: It makes the wings crispy and helps give them some texture to hold the mango habanero sauce once it is added.
- Salt: To taste
- Garlic powder: Garlic powder works best because it is easy to mix with other dry ingredients for the wings. If you don’t have garlic powder, consider using minced garlic as an alternative.
- Onion powder: Like garlic powder, onion powder is best for this recipe because it can easily be mixed in with the dry ingredients. If you don’t have onion powder, you can use grated onions.
- Paprika: Regular or smoked paprika would work fine for this recipe.
- Mango Habanero sauce: This is the most important ingredient and the reason why our recipe is a Mango Habanero chicken wing recipe. You can easily purchase this Mango: Habanero sauce at most supermarkets or if you can’t find it at a supermarket, try online stores like Amazon. Alternatively, you can make your own from scratch!
Tips and Substitutions
- Dry wings: It is really important that you pat the chicken wings dry. Use either a kitchen towel or paper towels for this step. If there is water on your chicken, it will be difficult for the dry ingredients to stick and the wings won't be crispy. If your chicken wings contain water, it will splash during the frying process, which can be dangerous for kitchen safety.
- Seasoning: Make sure the dry ingredients coat the chicken fully. Remember the dry ingredients flavor the chicken wings and make them crispy.
- Fry wings: Deep fry chicken wings in a saucepan, pan, or deep fryer. Alternatively, you can bake the wings for a healthier, less greasy alternative.
- Sauce: You can use homemade mango habanero sauce or use a ready-made version bought from the store.
How to Make Crispy Mango Habanero Wings
- The first step in this recipe is to prep the chicken wings. You will need to wash, chop, and dry the wings. Make sure you pat the wings dry using a paper towel or leave them to dry. This ensures that the wings are crispy.
2. The next step is to mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
3. Toss the chicken in the dry ingredients, making sure the chicken wings are fully coated with the dry ingredients.
4. Next, fry the chicken wings. You can do this either over a stovetop or with a deep fryer. The most important thing is that you deep fry the chicken.
5. Fry the chicken for about 7 minutes or until golden brown. You can check if they are done by removing one wing from the oil and cutting into it. The flesh should be white and moist.
6. Fry the chicken, then heat the Mango Habanero sauce in a pan. Add the chicken and toss the wings in the sauce until they are fully coated.
7. Serve these crispy habanero wings as an appetizer or as a side dish with a wedge of lime and sour cream and garnish with parsley.
