Start by seasoning the chicken breast with salt to taste, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder and ½ a teaspoon of paprika.
Then, add the seasoned chicken breasts to a bowl of buttermilk and mix well. Cover the chicken with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes while you prepare the cornflakes.
Next, add cornflakes to a bowl, season with the remaining salt, garlic powder, and paprika, and crush using a blunt object.
Once the chicken has marinated, remove it from the buttermilk and coat both sides with the seasoned cornflakes. Spray or drizzle the coated chicken with oil. Then, place the chicken in the air fryer or a lined baking tray and airfry for 200C/400F or bake in a preheated oven, flipping the chicken halfway through.
Once the chicken is ready, assemble the burgers. Add lettuce, tomatoes, and the crispy chicken fillet, top with burger sauce or any other sauce of your choice. Serve this delicious chicken burger with fries or salad.
Notes
Frying: Feel free to deep fry the chicken instead of baking. Deep fry for 5-7 minutes on both sides on medium-high heat. Once done, place the chicken patties on a paper towel to soak excess oil before adding it to burger buns.
Add-ins: This delicious burger can be filled with any filling and sauce. For example, you can add burger sauce, cheese, eggs, and more.
Buttermilk: If you don't have any to hand, you can combine 1 cup of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of lemon or vinegar and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to make buttermilk.
