Dig into these mouth-watering Baked BBQ Chicken Wings! They are crispy and sticky on the outside and moist and succulent on the inside. Serve as an appetizer or side!
Preheat your oven or air fryer to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Prepare an oven rack and set aside.
Next, cut the wings into drums and flats, discarding the tips. Pat the wings dry with a paper towel.
In a bowl, mix together the chicken wings, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until they’re evenly coated.
Arrange the wings on the oven rack or in the air fryer. Spray each side with cooking oil.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes on each side, or air fry on the roast setting for 10-12 minutes per side.
While the wings cook, prepare the sauce. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the BBQ sauce, mustard, honey, and hot sauce. Once it begins to bubble, remove from heat and set aside.
When the wings are done, remove them from the oven or air fryer and transfer to a bowl. Pour the BBQ sauce over the wings. Toss the wings in the sauce until they’re completely coated.
Serve your sticky baked BBQ wings as a side.
Notes
Marinade: Feel free to adjust the BBQ marinade to your liking. Add more hot sauce for extra heat or cut back on the mustard if you want less tang.
Baking: Make sure to flip the chicken while it bakes. This helps it cook evenly and prevents it from sticking to the tray.
Chicken: You can swap the wings for thighs to make Sticky Oven BBQ Chicken Thighs instead.
BBQ Sauce: The marinade steals the spotlight, so make sure to use a high-quality BBQ sauce for the best flavor.
