I can't think of anything better than BBQ wings; they are one of my favorite appetizers. This recipe is great because it is healthier than deep-fried BBQ wings. I bake my wings in the oven instead to avoid all of the extra grease, and they still come out crispy and delicious!
The key ingredient that makes these wings crispy is baking powder (not baking soda!), so remember to add it to the flour mix.

Ingredients
- Chicken wings: For this recipe, use fresh chicken wings. If the chicken is frozen, let it thaw completely before starting the recipe.
- Plain flour: This gives the chicken its crispy skin.
- Baking powder: It adds even more crispness to the skin. Make sure it has not expired before using it; if it has, it will not work. Don't make the mistake of adding baking soda, though, as it adds a really strong metal-like taste.
- Garlic powder: For flavor. Garlic powder works better than fresh garlic in this recipe.
BBQ Marinade
- Butter: For this recipe, you can use salted or unsalted butter. If you use salted butter, you may need to add less salt.
- BBQ sauce: Use your favorite BBQ sauce for this recipe.
- Hot sauce: Select a good quality hot sauce to add a kick to the sauce.
- Honey: Adds delicious sweetness to the sauce.
- Mustard: For more heat.
- Oil spray or oil: Use vegetable oil or sunflower oil.
- Salt:
- Pepper:
Tips and Substitutions
- Marinade: Feel free to change the BBQ marinade to your taste. Add more hot sauce for spicier wings and less mustard for less of a kick.
- Baking: Turn the chicken occasionally as it bakes. This will ensure that it cooks evenly and does not stick to the baking tray.
- Chicken: Instead, You can use thighs to make this Sticky Oven Chicken Thighs BBQ.
- BBQ sauce: The marinade is really the star of the show, so make sure you use a good-quality sauce for the best flavor.
