2tablespoonof apple cider vinegar/rice wine vinegar
Salt and pepper
Vegetable/Sunflower oil
2teaspoonSesame seedsoptional
Spring onions or herbsoptional
Instructions
Grab a medium-sized bowl. Add soy sauce, honey, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar, crushed cloves of garlic, fresh ginger, salt to taste, pepper to taste and stir well. Option: to adjust seasoning to your taste at this stage. Reserve about half of the marinade to baste the chicken later on while it bakes in the oven.
Pour the marinade on to the drumsticks and mix everything together well. Then, cover the drumsticks and leave them to marinate in the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour. For more flavour marinate for 24 hours.
Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6. Once the chicken drumsticks have finished marinating add them to a lightly greased oven tray and bake for 30 minutes. You will need to turn and baste the drumsticks every 10 minutes to get a delicious flavor and color.
Once the chicken is done garnish with sesame seeds, herbs (or spring onions) and serve!
Notes
Basting: Don’t skip this step! It’s crucial for achieving the desired flavor and a beautiful brown color. Avoid using the marinade that the raw chicken was in for basting. Instead, set aside some marinade in a separate bowl for this purpose.
Ingredients: Opt for fresh ginger and garlic cloves to ensure intense, fresh flavors. High-quality honey is essential for this recipe, as it adds a delicious natural sweetness to the drumsticks. Don’t forget the sesame seeds—they elevate the dish to the next level!
Chicken: Choose high-quality chicken drumsticks to ensure the best taste.
Marinade: After preparing the marinade, taste it. Adjust the ingredients to suit your preferences.
