About This Recipe
This honey soy chicken drumstick recipe is one of my favourites because the drumsticks are so easy to prepare and the results are simply amazing! Seriously every time I make these drumsticks they disappear in seconds. With a few simple ingredients, you’ll be able to create a delicious restaurant standard oriental side!
Oven-Baked Honey Soy Chicken Drumsticks Ingredients
You will need the following ingredients to make this recipe.
- Chicken drumsticks – Use fresh chicken drumsticks for this recipe. If they are frozen then make sure you allow them to defrost completely before marinating.
- Soy sauce – This is one of the main ingredients in this recipe. Soy sauce gives the chicken drumsticks a delicious savoury flavour and it is used very widely in East Asian cooking.
- Honey – is another main ingredient in this recipe. Adding honey to this dish adds sweetness to this dish and balances out the savoury flavours. Fun Fact: East Asian cuisine is heavily based around the ying and yang concept. They believe in using contrasting flavours to create balanced flavours. An example of this is the popular sweet and sour chicken.
- Ginger – is a fragrant spice used in East Asian cooking. It gives this dish a sweet spicy undertone. Plus, it is very good for you.
- Apple cider vinegar – Intensifies the savoury notes in this dish.
- Salt and pepper – enhances each ingredient in this dish. You will not need that much salt because soy sauce is quite salty.
- Vegetable/Sunflower oil – The oil will bake the drumsticks while they are in the oven.
- Sesame seeds (optional) – Garnish honey soy drumsticks with sesame seeds. They will add a subtle crunch to this dish.
- Spring onions or herbs (optional) – Honey soy drumsticks are typically garnished with spring onions. However, you can use any other herbs you have to hand.
