Ingredients
I used 9 ingredients to make this easy shrimp pasta tomato dish and of course, you can use less or more of each ingredient depending on your taste. Also, feel free to leave out any ingredients you don't like.
- Tagliatelle: I used a bag of my favorite tagliatelle from the supermarket. You can also use homemade tagliatelle instead.
- Shrimp: Feel free to use fresh shrimp or frozen shrimp. I prefer to use raw shrimps as I believe that they give the best flavors. If you are using raw shrimp make sure you devein them before cooking. If you don't the shrimp may taste bitter.
- Tomato puree: Good-quality tomato puree will give this dish a lovely tomato flavor.
- Double cream: I like to use double cream for my base however, you can also use single cream too.
- Garlic: Chop up some fresh garlic for this dish. If you don't have any fresh garlic then you can use dried garlic instead.
- Seasoning: To bring this lovely dish to life, you only need a few ingredients. Add salt to taste, paprika to taste, dried oregano, and white vinegar.
- Oil: Add a splash of oil to cook the shrimp and pasta.
- Butter: Adding butter to the pasta adds moisture and stops it from sticking together.
- Parsley: Garnish with fresh parsley once it's ready.
Tips and Substitutions
- Tagliatelle: Do not cook the pasta for too long. If you do the pasta will become too soft when you add to the creamy tomato sauce.
- Pasta Water: Reserve some pasta water after you cook the pasta and add some to the sauce if necessary.
- Shrimp: Use fresh or raw shrimp for this recipe. Use a knife and slightly slice the center of the back of the shrimp. You should see a black vein, remove the vein and rinse. Repeat this step on the other side of the shrimp.
- Seasoning: I like to keep things simple when it comes to seasoning this pasta but feel free to add your favorite seasoning.
- Alternative Pasta: Feel free to use any pasta of your choice to make this dish. For example, you can use spaghetti, penne and fusilli instead.
How to Make Easy Creamy Tomato Shrimp Tagliatelle
- Start by seasoning 2 cups of shrimp with salt to taste, paprika to taste, garlic seasoning and any other seasoning of your choice. If you have extra time marinate the shrimp for 10-30 minutes in the fridge before cooking.
- Next, heat a splash of sunflower or vegetable oil in a pan. Add shrimp and cook on both sides for 3-5 minutes. Then remove shrimp from the pan and set aside for later.
TIP: Do not overcook the shrimp as it will lose flavor and become tough and chewy.
3. Meanwhile, start making your pasta. Bring salted water to a boil in a pot and add 400g of tagliatelle. Cook for 7-10 minutes while you make the creamy tomato sauce. Drain tagliatelle once it is done.
4. Add 2-3 chopped garlic cloves to the pan and cook until fragrant. Then, add 3-5 tablespoon of tomato puree, stir and cook for one minute.
TIP: Do not overcook the pasta as it will get softer when you add it to the sauce.
5. Pour 1 cup of double cream into the pan and stir until the sauce is well combined.
6. Season sauce with salt to taste, paprika to taste, ½ teaspoon of oregano, ½-1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar and stir. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
TIP: If the sauce gets too thick then add reserved pasta water.
7. Add cooked tagliatelle to the pan and stir until the pasta and sauce are well combined.
8. Add cooked shrimp, 2-3 tablespoon of butter (optional) and stir.
9. Garnish with parsley. Serve and with Quick Heirloom Tomato Burrata Salad, Gluten-Free Focaccia Bread

I’ve made this twice now. Once with shrimp, once with chicken. I can never find the tagliatelle, so I used egg noodles the first time, and spaghetti the second time. Either way, this is probably the most delicious pasta I have ever made! Jen gives a range for some of the ingredients, I do the higher end (ex/ 1 tbs of white wine vinegar instead of the half). Wish I could post a video of my 2yr old inhaling this.
