This delicious mixed berry yogurt cup is the perfect healthy snack to keep you going through the day. Add this snack to a jar and eat on the go!
Nothing says midday snack like a cup of yoghurt and some sweet berries to add a little energy to your daily routine. We love coming up with unique concoctions and healthy alternatives to classic recipes, but sometimes, we like keeping it simple. Don’t worry, this yoghurt cup is PACKED with flavor and nutrition to put you in a good mood all day!
Why Healthy Snacks are the Best Snacks
Everybody deserves a snack break now and then. We can’t help but activate our sweet tooths (or should it be sweet teeth?) when there’s a lull between lunch and dinner. In most cases, we reach for the closest edible thing and snack away.
Instead, we should make a conscious decision to make healthy eating choices when craving a snack. There’s no point in filling up with empty calories just because you’re a little hungry.
Our flavorful mixed berry cup is the perfect thing to keep your energy high throughout the day.
How to Make the Delicious Mixed Berry Yoghurt Cup
1. Add ¼ cup of your favorite mixed berries, frozen or fresh, to a blender. Then, add 3 prunes, 1-2 tablespoon of pure honey, and 2-3 tablespoon of organic almond milk to the blender. Blend until all of the ingredients are mixed smoothly.
2. Pour ½ of the mixture from the blender into a big jar. Add 3-5 tablespoon of Greek yoghurt or dairy-free yoghurt. Then, add the other ½ of the berry mixture to the jar.
3. Top the combination with crunchy granola and fresh whole berries. Then, enjoy!
Want it Extra Creamy? Add More Yoghurt!
You can add even more yoghurt for a creamier and sweeter substance. Sometimes we like to blend all of the ingredients at one to make a nutrient-rich smoothie instead of a yoghurt cup.
Your Storage Options
Yoghurt is very particular when it comes to storage. Depending on the kind of yoghurt you get, it may or may not have active cultures in it. If it does, it will go bad more quickly and you should think about eating it straight away.
However, other kinds of yoghurt can last for several weeks beyond its expiration date. For example, Greek yoghurt can usually last for a couple of weeks in the fridge and a couple of months in the freezer. Reduced fat yoghurt has a similar lifespan.
After your yogurt is opened and you’ve mixed it into our mixed berry cup, you can expect it to stay good in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. It’s a snack that is best enjoyed fresh!
