This is the best simple guacamole recipe. It’s creamy, delicious and filled with flavor. All you need is tomatoes, onions, coriander/cilantro and lime!
What is Guacamole?
Guacamole (also known as guac) is a traditional Mexican avocado-based dip. It usually includes salt, pepper, lime and other fresh ingredients. It is usually served as an appetizer, in sandwiches, burritos and more.
Guacamole is one of my favorite dips because it is so delicious and easy to make. I have tried a few methods, and this is my favorite.
Guacamole Ingredients
For this creamy and delicious avocado recipe, I used:
- Avocados which form the base of this delicious dip!
- Tomatoes as they add a sweet/sour tangy flavour to this dip
- Red onions add a sharpness to the guac
- Coriander/Cilantro give the guacamole a fresh herby flavour
- Lime juice adds a burst of citrus
- Salt and Pepper enhance the overall flavour of the guacamole
- Cumin gives a warm, spicy, earthy peppery flavour
- Olive oil gives the guacamole a smooth texture
Overall, all these ingredients work amazingly together and balance each other out really well to make the best guacamole ever!
How to Choose The Best Produce For the Best Simple Guacamole Recipe
You will need ripe avocados for this recipe. Give the avocados a gentle squeeze to ensure they are ripe and ready to eat; they should give way when you squeeze them. Make sure the avocados are not too ripe as they will be brown inside and if the avocados are unripe then it won’t form a creamy dip!
Always use fresh tomatoes in your guacamole. Look for tomatoes that has some give when you squeeze it. That’s a sign of ripeness. Also, avoid any tomatoes with scars, bruises, or discoloration. The skin should be vibrant and not dried out.
Red onions should be vibrant in color and hard. Avoid red onions with bruises.
Use fresh limes for this recipe. Look for limes that have some give when you squeeze them. Also, avoid any citrus with scars, bruises, or discoloration. The skin should be vibrant and waxy, not dried out.
Coriander/cilantro leaves should be fragrant, hardy, and green. Avoid coriander/cilantro that’s yellowing, old-looking or wilting. And give your leaves a good sniff. If they smell like coriander/cilantro, they’re fresh.
