If you're looking for a refreshing tropical non-alcoholic grapefruit drink then this is the recipe for you! We added strawberries for some sweetness!
Nothing is better on a hot day than an icy glass of fresh-squeezed fruit juice. But there’s no need to buy that overly sugar-filled fruit juice you’ll find at the market. Instead, buy some fresh grapefruits, strawberries, and a hint of lime, and you’ve got yourself a splash of something sweet AND healthy to last all summer long!
Health Benefits of Grapefruit
Grapefruit is one of our favorite tropical fruits because it provides a lot of health benefits over some of the more calorie-rich fruits that typically make up these juices. Grapefruit has very low calories, but tons of nutrients!
For example, it’s packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Potassium, and Thiamine. It even has 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of protein per grapefruit, which is pretty rare for a fruit. Plus, we think it’s quite delicious since it isn’t overly sweet, but it still satisfies that craving.
Do You Enjoy Pulp?
Since grapefruit is a citrus-like orange, it will have a lot of pulp when it’s juiced. You can choose to get rid of the pulp and just drink the juice, but keep in mind the pulp has some of the highest concentrations of nutritional value. While it might seem like a weird texture at first, it will taste good when combined with the strawberries and other fruits you wish to add to this refreshing drink.
It usually can have a few differently-colored pulps, like pink and red, that offer varying levels of sweetness and bitterness.
How to Make a Tropical Non-Alcoholic Grapefruit Drink
1. Gather 1 grapefruit and 8 strawberries. Make sure to wash them thoroughly before peeling and chopping them up.
2. Add the grapefruit, strawberries, ¼ teaspoon of lime juice, and 2 cups of cold water to a juicer. You can also add a pinch of sugar to taste or go with one of our favorite substitutions, such as honey or agave nectar.
3. Blend until the juice is smooth and consistent. Add other flavors to taste, such as a sprig of mint leaves, or even a slice of lime, to combine the flavors.
4. Enjoy!
Final Tips
Make sure to put lots of ice in the glass when you pour the juice in. This will turn it into a wonderfully delectable smoothie that can be enjoyed as a healthy breakfast or even as an after-dinner sweet treat!
