Delicious homemade roasted almond butter made from scratch in a food processor – perfect for toast, snacks, baking and more!
Almonds are one of the healthiest nuts. They are rich in fiber, protein, vitamin e and more! Watch my one minute tutorial below!
Almonds are very versatile and can be also used to make milk, oil, flour and paste. I usually add a spoon of almond butter to my oatmeal in the mornings but feel free to experiment!
Why You Should Make Your Own Almond Butter
Most nut butters in the supermarket normally contain preservatives such as palm oil and high amounts of sugar. Making your own nut butter will give you the opportunity to create a healthier butter and avoid all of the unhealthy extra ingredients!
Recipe
- Preheat oven at 170C. Add almonds to a lightly greased baking tray and roast for 10 minutes.
- Leave almonds to cool. Add almonds to a food processor, blend until smooth and scrape down the sides when necessary. This process normally takes 10-20 minutes so be patient!
- Once the almond butter is smooth add honey/maple syrup, salt and blend again.
- Pour your butter into a jar and refrigerate!
Storage
Almond butter can be stored in the fridge in a jar for up to two weeks!
Alternatives
You can make just about any nut butter following the same steps e.g cashew butter, peanut butter and more.
Serve with toast, oatmeal, smoothies, pancakes and more!
