Knowing When Shrimp Are Done
How do you know when your shrimp are done cooking? There’s actually a very simple way to tell. Properly cooked shrimp will look pink on the outside, with bright red tails to indicate they are done.
The shrimp itself will probably look opaque and fleshy. But look out, if it’s too bright white, it may be overcooked.
You normally don’t have to worry about shrimp being undercooked, as it is usually safe to consume raw.
Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry Instructions
1. Gather 250g-300g of egg noodles and boil them in water for about 6 minutes, or until they are soft. Drain them and put them aside for now.
2. Heat up some oil in a large frying pan or a wok. Add the following ingredients: 2 chopped spring onions, 3 crushed cloves of garlic, ½ chopped broccoli, and 2 sliced carrots.
3. Optional: Add some chopped chilies.
4. Cook the ingredients in the frying pan over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Add salt, pepper, some lemon juice, 1-2 tablespoon of honey, 3-5 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1-2 teaspoon of rice wine vinegar, and 1-2 cups of shrimp. Cook ingredients while stirring for a few minutes. Do a taste test to see when everything is done being cooked.
5. Lastly, add the cooked noodles and a scrambled egg to your wok. Stir everything for another minute or two and then remove from heat.
6. Pour onto a serving plate. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, spring onions, and a handful of sprouts.
7. Dig in and enjoy!
Noodle Replacement
If you don’t want to use egg noodles, we recommend using cauliflower or zucchini noodles as a substitute. They taste like noodles, yet they are lower in carbs and starch! Or, you can eliminate the noodles altogether and use something like a spinach salad or steamed rice to fill you up.
