Ever wondered how to make Guinness Punch? This delicious punch is sweet, smooth, thick and creamy with a distinct bitter Guinness flavor. Make in 5 minutes and serve during any occasion.
About This Recipe
I remember the first time I tasted Guinness punch. It was from a Jamaican food spot that my friend worked at and I was so impressed with the flavor! It made the usual bitter and harsh Guinness stout taste sweet, thick, and creamy. As you know, whenever I love a recipe, I create my own and share it with you so here I am years later sharing an easy, quick homemade version of this Caribbean classic!
This punch is enjoyed all over the Caribbean. It is prepared slightly differently across Caribbean countries. However, the basic ingredients remain the same, Guinness, condensed milk, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Some islanders add Irish Moss, Cognac, or Rum. While others add eggs or more milk. In this recipe, I decided to keep things simple and use the ingredients listed below.
Guinness Punch Ingredients
- Guinness: Add any Guinness of your choice to this recipe.
- Milk: Traditionally supligen milk is used. However, if you don’t have it you can use any other milk instead. Another popular alternative is nutragen.
- Condensed milk: A thick sweet milk that is added to make this punch sweet.
- Nutmeg: Adds a warm nutty flavour to this punch.
- Cinnamon: Gives this punch a sweet, woody flavour.
- Vanilla: Adds a delicious vanilla flavour to this punch.
How to Make Guinness Punch
- Add Guinness, milk, condensed milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract (optional) to a blender.
- Blend the mixture until well combined and serve.
NB: Option to serve with ice and whipped cream and nutmeg as shown.
How to Serve Guinness Punch
Whipped cream: Start by adding ½ a cup of double cream to a bowl. Add 1 tsp of sugar and whisk until stiff peaks begin to form.
Ice: Guinness punch is best served cold. Add ice cubes or refrigerate.
Nutmeg: Dust nutmeg on top of the whipped cream.
Alternatives
- If you want an extra sweet Guinness punch, then use vanilla-flavored nourishment instead of milk.
- You can also use semi-skilled milk or low-fat milk if you want to cut back on calories.
- Some people add raw eggs to this recipe. However, I decided not to for this recipe.
- For a vegan alternative use vegan milk and vegan condensed milk in this recipe instead.
