Ingredients

Puff pastry sheets, pistachios, pistachio paste and an egg on a table.
  • Puff pastry sheets: To save time, use ready-made puff pastry. If it is frozen, make sure it has fully defrosted before filling.
  • Pistachio paste: I use shop-bought pistachio paste however, you can also use homemade paste to fill the pastry.
  • Crushed pistachios: Deshell roasted pistachios and chop.
  • Egg wash: Beat one egg with one tablespoon of water to make the egg wash. This will give the puff pastry a golden and crispy outer layer.

Tips and Substitutions

  • Oven: Ensure the oven is preheated to ensure the pastry bakes evenly.
  • Pistachio paste: Select a good-quality paste for the best flavor.
  • Skewers: Soaking the skewers for 30 minutes prevents them from burning while baking.
  • Baking: When baking, leave space between each mini tree to prevent them from sticking together.

How to Make Mini Pistachio Puff Pastry Christmas Trees

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/360F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Grab one pastry sheet and spread pistachio paste on top and add crushed pistachios. Then, place another pastry sheet on top.
  3. Cut one-quarter of the sheet to make stars. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to make mini stars and set aside. Then, cut the remaining sheet into equal-sized strips.
  4. Grab one strip and fold it horizontally on top to resemble a tree. Then, push the skewer through the bottom of the tree in the center and place the star on top. Repeat this with the remaining strips and place them on the baking tray.
  5. Next, combine one egg and one tablespoon of water in a bowl and brush them on each Christmas tree. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden.
  6. Once done, dust icing sugar on top and crushed pistachios and serve these delicious Mini Pistachio Puff Pastry Christmas Trees!
