Who doesn’t love fried chicken? However, if you are more health-conscious then you know that you probably should not eat it every day. As you know I am always looking for healthier alternatives and I had some leftover panko from this chicken katsu curry so I decided to make baked crispy chicken drumsticks.
Reasons Why I Love This Recipe
- This recipe is so easy to make and the results are simply delicious. Whenever I make these drums they disappear quickly.
- These golden crispy drumsticks are very easy to prepare. Once you have coated each drumstick in the batter and panko, they are ready to be baked!
- It only takes 30 minutes to bake these drums!
- You only need a few simple ingredients which are likely to have at home already.
Crispy Baked Chicken Drumsticks Ingredients
- Drumsticks – Use fresh drumsticks for this recipe. If you are using frozen drumsticks then make sure that they have defrosted fully before preparing.
- Egg – Combining eggs and flour create a batter. Dipping the drumsticks. in the batter helps the panko to stick to the drums and creates the crispy golden crust.
- Flour – Use all purpose flour for this recipe.
- Panko – Once the drums are coated in batter they are dipped into the panko to create the delicious crispy crust.
- Garlic seasoning – Adds flavour to the drumbs.
- Salt and pepper – Enhances the flavour of each ingredient in the recipe.
- Oil -The drums are baked in vegetable or sunflower oil.
How to Make Crispy Baked Chicken Drumsticks
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6. Add eggs, flour, ¼ tsp of garlic seasoning, salt to taste and paprika to taste to a medium sized bowl. Mix the ingredients until well combined.
- Then, coat one chicken drumstick in the batter and make sure it is fully covered.
- Next, coat the drumstick in panko and make sure it is fully covered. Repeat this step for each drumstick.
- Once each drumstick has been coated add them to a lightly greased oven tray.
- Finally, bake the drums for 30 minutes and turn halfway through. Serve as desired.
Alternatives
Swap panko with the following ingredients if you do not have any:
- Breadcrumbs
- Crushed cornflakes
- Cornflour
- Flour
