This delicious mixed berry smoothie recipe without yogurt is one of my go-to breakfasts. Not only is it quick and easy to make, it’s also low-carb and refined-sugar free. And did I mention it’s only three ingredients?
Many people add frozen bananas and yogurt to smoothies because they give smoothies a thicker texture. However, if you are not too keen on bananas or yogurt then this the perfect recipe for you! It’s just three simple ingredients, and the result is always delicious.
How to make a Mixed Fruit Smoothie without Yogurt
Have you run out of bananas and yogurt? Or maybe you’re dairy-free. Or avoiding the extra sugar and carbs hiding in bananas? Then don’t fret, because you can still easily enjoy your favourite smoothie, completely banana- and yogurt-free.
Of course, no one wants a thin or watery smoothie. And this three-ingredient mixed fruit smoothie is far from that, even without any yogurt or banana added.
In order to make sure your smoothie is thick, use FROZEN mixed berries (or any fruit of your choice). This will give your smoothie plenty of body. In addition, you’ll want to add some form of liquid to loosen the mixture and help it blend smoothly.
In this mixed fruit smoothie recipe, I use almond milk. However, you can use any other milk that you like, plant-based or cow’s milk. In fact, you can even use plain or coconut water to add some liquid to your smoothie.
Why Use Almond Milk For A Berry Smoothie?
Why did I choose almond milk for this smoothie recipe? First of all, I wanted to go for that extra dose of creaminess. In addition, almond milk is vegan and still full of protein and calcium. Therefore, it’s sure to give this berry smoothie a boost.
Coconut milk, cashew milk, hemp, oat or soy milk are other creamy plant-based milk options for a banana- and yogurt-free smoothie.
Health Benefits of Berries
Berries are some of the richest sources of antioxidants that you can eat. It’s amazing that such a small, sweet little thing like a raspberry is so packed to the brim with healthy nutrients. By filling your morning smoothie with frozen berries, you’ll immediately get a zing of energy and a boost to your immune system.
For this recipe, I recommend blending up a mix of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. These berries are some of the most nutrient-dense options. Plus, they’re so colorful! However, you can’t go wrong with sweeter classics like strawberries too!
Frozen Mixed Berry Smoothie without Yogurt or Banana Recipe
So how do you transform three simple ingredients into a thick, immune-boosting berry smoothie? Here’s how I do it:
- Add 1 cup of frozen mixed berries, 1-2 cups of almond milk and honey to a juicer.
- Blend and adjust the taste as necessary with more milk, honey or fruit.
- Serve immediately, or store your smoothie, covered, in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
Ingredient Alternatives To This Mixed Berry Smoothie Recipe
This berry smoothie recipe is a healthy vegetarian option, with honey. To make a vegan berry smoothie, use maple syrup or agave instead of honey to sweeten.
You can also swap frozen mixed berries with any fruit of your choice, such as frozen pineapple, frozen mango, and more. To add even more nutrition to this already antioxidant-packed smoothie, pop some frozen spinach in your juicer.

How To Store The Banana and Yogurt Free Mixed Berry Smoothie
This smoothie tastes best right after it’s made. However, it can be stored in the fridge for a up to 24 hours. If you’re in a real rush in the morning, you can always prepare the smoothie the night before and give it a quick blend when you wake up in the morning.
