Eggnog Tiramisu Ingredients

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
- Heavy cream: Use heavy or double cream and ensure that it is cold to achieve stiff peaks when whisked.
- Mascarpone cheese: Select high-quality mascarpone for optimal flavor and ensure it is cold before mixing.
- Eggnog: Use homemade Eggnog or shop-bought.
- Ladyfingers: Use store-bought ladyfingers for convenience, or homemade ladyfinger cookies if you prefer. The most important thing is that they are firm enough to soak without falling apart.
Tips and Substitutions
- Eggnog: Choose a high-quality eggnog for the best flavor. Regular, spiced, or homemade eggnog will work well, depending on your preferred flavor profile.
- Mixing: When mixing the mascarpone filling, avoid overmixing. Overworking mascarpone can make it runny or grainy, which may prevent the eggnog tiramisu from setting properly. Gently folding the ingredients together will keep the filling light, smooth, and creamy.
- Chill: Let the Eggnog Tiramisu chill for at least six hours before serving. This gives the filling time to set correctly and allows the ladyfingers to absorb all the eggnog-coffee goodness. Overnight chilling is even better and yields a creamier, more cohesive texture.
- Dish: This eggnog tiramisu works wonderfully in a large serving dish, but it can also be assembled in individual dessert cups for elegant single servings. If you prefer an alcohol-free version, use plain eggnog or vegan eggnog and skip the rum to keep it family-friendly.
- Swap: If you don't want to use coffee, you can replace it with strong black tea, milk, hot chocolate, or chicory. If mascarpone is hard to find, you can make a quick substitute by mixing cream cheese with a bit of heavy cream, though mascarpone will always give you the most luxurious texture.
