Is Salmon Skin Safe to Eat?
When you pick up your fresh salmon fillets from the supermarket, you probably aren’t thinking about whether or not the skin is still on them until you get home. Upon opening your fillets, you might start to wonder if the skin is supposed to be removed or not.
At restaurants, you’ll find that some chefs like to remove the skin, while others don’t. So which one is the most correct?
Thankfully, salmon skin is totally safe to eat. It comes with all the same vitamins and nutrients that you’ll find in the fish itself, so you can think of it as an extra bit of health – and an extra bit of crunch – that comes with your meal. As long as you aren’t investing in poor-quality fish, the skin shouldn’t be an issue at all. Enjoy it!
